In Springtime
Cuore Chamber Choir and conductor Amy Ryan proudly present In Springtime, a special concert of reflective and uplifting contemporary choral music that is sure to raise your spirits.
In addition to the Irish premiere of Knut Nystedt’s arrestingly beautiful Prayers of Kierkegaard, this concert includes the world premiere of A Can of Lilt by Cuore alumna, Anne-Marie O’Farrell, commissioned by Cuore with funding from the Arts Council of Ireland.
We will also present a number of other concert premieres and reprise other music written for Cuore or by Cuore members, including the world premiere of Hymn to Aphrodite by Cuore alto Carmel Whelan, and the concert premiere of In you, Lord, I have taken refuge by Norway-based Irish composer, Galen Mac Cába.
Help Make Our First Album
Cuore are fundraising now for our first professional recording, planned for 2026, featuring premiere recordings of music by composers associated with the choir, including Anne-Marie O’Farrell, Rhona Clarke and MichaĹ‚ Ziółkowski.
If you’re inspired by what we do and would like to support our first commercial recording or to fund other commissions, we’d love to hear from you!
Christmas with Cuore 2025
Thank you to our wonderful audience of over 400 people who joined us for a festive evening of uplifting choral music from around the world and across the ages in the beautiful acoustic of St Mary’s Church, Haddington Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4.
We performed festive favourites, music by Busto, McDowell and Whitacre, the Irish premieres of contemporary carols by Jonathan Dove and Ola Gjeilo. and the world premiere of a new carol by Rhona Clarke.
Plus special guests from the Royal Irish Academy of Music Junior Choir conducted by Brian Dungan.
Sketches with Anne-Marie O'Farrell
We took some time out today from rehearsing for our upcoming Christmas concert to welcome back composer, harpist and Cuore alumna, Anne-Marie O’Farrell.
Anne-Marie came straight from today’s premiere of her Murmuration, to explore some sketches for a new choral work we’ve commissioned from her with the support of the Arts Council. She put us through our paces with some exciting cluster chord progressions, rhythmic syllables, and percussive vocalisations.
Anne-Marie’s new piece is the third and final one of our 10th anniversary commissions. We intend to hold a public workshop on this piece in February next year in advance of the world premiere at our Dublin concert in April 2026; watch this space!
10th Anniversary Concert
Thank you to our wonderful audience of 250 people who came to our anniversary concert, celebrating the rich musical tapestry we’ve woven since our first concert in April 2015.
We took a retrospective journey through the first decade of Cuore’s music-making, revisiting choir and audience favourites, and hidden gems from our repertoire. We were delighted to be joined by many alumni in the audience, and especially those who accepted our invitation to sing Kodály’s Esti Dal with us.
We were also thrilled to present the world premiere of our anniversary commission in the presence of the celebrated Polish composer MichaĹ‚ Ziółkowski, with his beautiful setting of the evocative W. B. Yeats poem, To a Child Dancing Upon the Shore, crafted especially for Cuore’s 10th anniversary.
Music Premiered by Cuore
Cuore’s concert repertoire ranges from standard choral works to early music editions prepared by choir members and premieres of pieces written for the choir. We have a particular affinity for contemporary classical music by living European composers, having won prizes for interpretation at home and abroad, and regularly present Irish premieres at our Dublin concerts.
Below is a list of pieces premiered by Cuore. Titles below link to performances by Cuore, where recordings are available. More details about our past Irish premieres and world premieres can be found on individual event pages.
